In 2022, the global economy is still shrouded in the shadow of the new coronavirus epidemic while the development of the semiconductor industry continues to grow, the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics Organization is expected to reach 601.4 billion US dollars in 2022, and the global semiconductor demand will continue to increase by about 8.8%-9%, but the production capacity continues to be in short supply. Therefore, the development prospects of the global semiconductor industry are very promising.

 

The widespread application of semiconductors in communications, computers, consumer electronics, automotive, industry, as well as in 5G, AI, Internet of Things and smart cities will continue to open new growth points in the global semiconductor industry. The rapid development of product intelligence, such as the automotive industry with the application of assisted driving, intelligent cockpit, automatic driving and other functions, has boosted the demand for semiconductor integrated circuits.

 

SiSC: What challenges do you think the semiconductor industry in China will face?

 

The Sino-US trade conflict has risen to the battle for technological heights, the Sino-US scientific and technological competition is becoming increasingly fierce, and technical control will increase, and the biggest challenge facing China's semiconductors is still an autonomous and controllable challenge. China's semiconductor industry started late but developed rapidly, maintaining a double-digit growth rate for many consecutive years, significantly higher than the global growth rate.

 

The integrated circuit in the semiconductor industry accounts for more than 80%, and its technical threshold is the highest and the challenge is the largest. At present, the three major areas of integrated circuit chip design, chip manufacturing, and packaging and testing maintain stable growth, but China faces greater challenges in chip design and chip manufacturing. China is the world's largest semiconductor market, but China's semiconductor self-sufficiency rate is still very low, chip import dependence has not changed, there is still a lack of core trouble.

 

SiSC: The state has issued a policy to support the semiconductor industry, how do you think it can fully benefit from it, and how does it guide your business development?

 

The state has introduced semiconductor support policies to further lift the integrated circuit industry, emphasizing that the integrated circuit industry and the software industry are the core of the information industry, and are key forces leading a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial change, and encourage and support integrated circuit and software enterprises to strengthen resource integration.

 

Our company will give full play to the leading role of supporting policies, increase investment in research and development, and actively carry out the research and development of independent controllable products. Including self-developed software algorithm platform, AI, Deep Learning and other research and development work, and actively promote the in-depth cooperation with relevant domestic vision, software companies, research institutes/institutes, to achieve the breakthrough and application of autonomous controllable products in the industry field.

 

SiSC: With the rapid development of 5G, AI, LoT and driverless technologies in recent years, what new requirements or challenges have been brought to semiconductor manufacturing and packaging technology? How is your company responding to these new requirements?

 

At present, the environment of China's packaging industry has a certain gap with the semiconductor industry in the United States and Japan, and these gaps restrict the development of semiconductor packaging technology in China, resulting in China's semiconductor packaging technology and international giants still have some differences.

 

The rapid development of 5G, AI, IoT and driverless technologies cannot be separated from more advanced packaging technology, higher computing efficiency, more powerful computing power, rich heterogeneous integration and heterogeneous computing methods. At present, our company is preparing to apply these advanced technologies to self-developed products to enhance the value of our self-developed products to new opportunities and new challenges.
